Technology is creating new opportunities for teaching and learning as information can easily be accessed. Online instruction is a relatively new medium with few experts; however, many universities are looking to implement online learning and are looking at the various options. The researchers of this paper analyzed studies on best practices with regards to asynchronous or synchronous online learning in higher education to determine if a set of guidelines could be developed in designing and learning online.
